Irish Hillclimb & Sprint Championship
In just a few weeks time the first rounds of the championship get underway in Wexford, Last year Champion Simon McKinley blew away all challengers in the first few months of the year. Simon set a pace that was almost impossible to follow; rivals and records were swept aside, in his relentless pursuit of perfection.
Already this year Simon has been invited to the prestigious Saint Goueno Hillclimb Masters in Brittany France; the French respect fearless drivers, and like the great René Arnoux, Simon’s driving style has won the respect and admiration of the French fans.
John Byrne the Jedi Master took second place overall in the championship, John delivered a spectacular display of skill and bravery during 2011. The force is strong with this young Jedi master; he’s one to watch in 2012.
Brendan Keane guided his Swallow home to third overall, only six points behind John Byrne, Brendan is another fast, silky smooth driver; keep an eye out for Brendan during the year.
Fourth place went to Rory Stephens and his outrageously good looking Radical SR3, Rory’s Radical is the motorsport equivalent of Haute couture. You don’t just drive a Radical, you wear it!.
2012 Looks like its going to be another cracker of a championship, we wish you all the very best, see you at the start line.
